Apple's rebuilt Siri arrived with iOS 27 on 14 September 2026. It is English-only, needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and is not available in the EU. Norma lives in iMessage, on any iPhone, anywhere. And unlike Siri, she texts you first.
What Siri AI does well
It is on the phone you already own, at no extra cost, and it can see what is on your screen.
It acts across apps. Ask it to send the photo from yesterday to your sister and it can find both.
It runs on device for a lot of what it does, which is the right call for privacy.
Where Norma is different
Available where you are. Siri AI is blocked in the EU at launch. Norma is built in Stockholm and works anywhere Messages does.
Any iPhone. Siri AI needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Norma is a contact in Messages. If you can text, you can use her.
She messages you first. Siri waits to be asked. Norma texts you when the thing you asked about actually happens.
Open loops stay open. Ask Siri to chase the landlord and it sets a reminder. Ask Norma and she follows up until it is done or you cancel it.
One assistant, both phones. Norma is the same on iMessage and WhatsApp. Switch phones and she comes with you.
